New Series Get! : Mushi-Shi

Alright! What is up? It feels good to be officially posting now!

After a pretty rough week at college, I finally found myself some free time to revisit one of my personal favorite anime series, Mushi-Shi.

Now, one of the few reasons the anime has not reached my top 10 list is because I actually have not gotten the chance to see all of it yet.

So! I hope to get an even better look at the anime AND complete it all while sharing my adventure with you all!

Enough with this intro filler! Let's get the summary started!

First Impressions: School Rumble

I was asking AvatarHippo for his to-do list, and got quite an interesting answer on one of the first things he was going to post about. He told me that School Rumble was his all time favorite anime; that it even outshined Ouran High. Seeing as how Oruan High is practically the most well known romantic comedy to anime freaks and novices alike, my curiosity was sparked. I’ve watched the first 3 episodes so far so I’m here to post my first impressions: AvatarHippo, you may not enjoy this.

  • Summary: Clumsy 16-year old Tsukamoto Tenma is in love. The object of her desire, the strange and silent Karasuma Oji, has no idea that she exists. 17-year old delinquent Harima Kenji is also in love. The object of his desire, Tsukamoto Tenma, has no idea that he exists. Both resolve to confess their feelings to the person they admire, but everytime they try, they chicken out or something interrupts them. The series focuses on the antics of Tenma and Harima, as well as their friends, classmates, and family, all of whom seem caught up in comical love troubles of their own.

  • First Impressions:
School Rumble looks like another stereotypical romantic comedy, where a somewhat ditzy girl falls in love (for no reason in particular) with a totally oblivious guy. Actually, he looks like a mix between Rock Lee and the student council president from Special A...NOT a good mix.
Tenma, the main female character, is like the eccentric, hopeless secondary character to likeable, strong protagonists in better romantic comedies. However, her crazy (frankly, stupid) antics make for wonderful comedy. I was practically laughing my head off in the second episode.
    Really....who does this?
The only thing that seems remotely enjoyable about this series would be Harima Kenji, who is apparently Nancy’s favorite character…for good reason. Harima is labeled as a delinquent- a real delinquent. The common stereotype of a delinquent in shoujo anime is a guy with long, greasy hair who only lashes out because he has daddy issues or an ailing sister whom he cares for day and night.
But Harima is an actual (believe it or not) delinquent! As in rides a motorcycle, beats up punks, and takes down gangs by the dozen. He’s like the more comical, less mentally disturbed version of Kuon from Skip Beat. But what really makes me like him is his “I’ll change for her” attitude and his never relenting will to win over her love. From the first few episodes, it looked like Kurasuma was a quiet, intelligent character, while Harima was boisterous, foolish, and hilariously obnoxious. I'd definitely watch Harima over Karasuma any day.
To Sum it Up: School Rumble did NOT give me a good first impression. It looks like a typical, bad romantic comedy that centers around a one note, ditzy character who loves a completely oblivious guy for no reason in particular. The only really interesting thing about this anime is Harmia Kenji.

Sorry AvatarHippo, but this isn’t even worthy of having it’s name next to Oruan High. Unless it’s being used to enhance the hilarious story and strong, respectable main character Oruan brings by comparing it to the seemingly meaningless story and superficial main character of School Rumble.
I will, however, continue to watch this series, and at the end of it all I’ll do a final review on it. I won’t judge a book by its cover, but I’m not saying I’m going in it with a totally unbiased mindset.

List of things to come... Prepare for trouble.

Alright! I was actually fearing that this post woulden't make it on time but I did it. I didn't mess up my debut posts!

This is the slightly-less tentative schedule (ok maybe not schedule, more like order) or the anime and manga I plan to review over the next couple of weeks. I will also be making a few announcements in the rest of this post and I will be making a few things a little more clear about what I am going to do. (or try to do :P)

... Hopefully, we will see how this post goes. xD
Side tracking is good for you kids.

AvatarHippo 1.0: We Are(not) Done with Intros Yet

Two posts in one afternoon? What blasphemous act is this?!

More stuffs about your newest content creator here, a few things I want to say and the basic layout of what could be considered "a plan".

Skip Beat: Bits and Pieces of Tsuruga's Past

I've finally reached a high point in Skip Beat! We've seen some character growth from Kyoko and all the other characters, but one character in particular, Tsuruga Ren, has been given an incredibly obscure profile.
We don't know the full story behind the reason he became "Ren" and dropped his birth name (and personality) as "Koun". But after the "Heel siblings" arc, we start to learn more and more about Tsuruga's past as Koun, and why he tries so hard to protect the dark memories beneath it.

What did Ren do?

Hold your orgasms everyone... I have arrived.

Well... After getting back into contact with Alice (Anime/Manga Addict) after a long period of non-speak, I apparently became new admin to this page... Kind of feels like a whole "SOS Brigade" scenario to me... But I digress!
Hello! I will be posting as AvatarHippo here and, like all of you expect your lovely admins to do, I take pride in my otakuidity so I will be looking forward to posting here!
Now Nancy is not actually my name but, for the purposes of this blog, it will be. Like was said on the Google+ page last night, I am in fact a male. Nancy just happened to be the first thing that I thought of when creating my Google+ account. I am totally new to the whole blogging scene so this is likely to be an adventure for the both of us! Though this will probably be a temporary thing, I like to think suspense draws audiences in. Yes. I am trying to get you all to like me, deal with that.

While being an manga/anime lover, I also enjoy reading, writing, science, art and cooking. At this moment I am currently in my first year of my pre-med program (so I guess we will we how that will work out into this whole blogging thing with time :P) and enjoying it very much! Sleep? What's that?!
Love me or fear me, I am here to stay. Accept me, fellow addicts, as your new admin! Embrace me as we fly off into the starlight! Fingers and hands held high towards the world of imagination!

Let's have fun together, ok? =)

New Author/Admin!

Blogging is hard. And that's coming from an amateur blogger. Whenever you read a manga or watch an anime you're constantly wondering, how am I going to sum this up? Should I take that screen shot? What if there's more to this story line than I expected? All those questions go through your mind while you're awwing or eehhing or whatever noise in respect to the genre of anime you're watching. I love doing it, but it takes up a lot of time- and internet (which I don't have often).

So! I brought in a new author. He goes as AvatarHippo on our google + page and Nancy CS on here. I'm hoping he'll bring in a new audience and more diversity to this blog (as I usually only right about shoujo/girly manga :P ) I'm positive you'll love him, his seasoned vocabulary, and his strong opinions.

So lets get an intro post in here soon, huh Nancy?

Oh, and welcome to Anime/Manga Addict!

Skip Beat Chapter 149: The Wake After the Kiss

So incase you guys haven't hear, Kyoko lost her first kiss to Shoutaro...Shou of all people!! That poor child.
But after the big kiss scene, Ren reassured her that your first kiss isn't a kiss until you're feelings are put into it. He also shared a hilarious story about his first "kiss" after an accidental collision with a middle aged man.
aahaha...aahhhh. Poor Ren-kun :(
However, Kyoko being Kyoko keeps loosing her head over every little thing that reminds her of Sho. And trust me, that's a lot of things. But what Ren does to take her mind off him was....nnneeehhmmeehh  (that was fan girl speak for ya)

Skip Beat: Chapter 145: Shoutaro and Kyoko Kiss!!!

Oh my god ohmygod ohmygod!!!! Whhaatt? Shoutaro and Kyoko...KISS?!?!

So here's what happened: Valentines day is coming up and Kyoko decides to make chocolates for everyone. Well, except Ren, but that's only because she thinks he won't like him (and she's giving him his late birthday present that day). Anyway, turns out that the lead singer from the band Kyoko calls "Beagle" captured one of her hatred spirits and has been holding it hostage. In order to get her spirit back, she was forced to make him chocolates.
Knowing Kyoko, she made a "go to hell beagle, I hate you" chocolate. Now, when Ren saw the dropped "Hatred" chocolate, he assumed that she made them for Shou, and obviously got pissed off.

Bbbuutt (this is when it gets confusing) Kyoko continues to drop the chocolates until the design begins to look like a "I Beagle Heart". Which is just the perfect moment for Shou to come in and find those, right? Well it's also a brilliant time for the Beagles to walk in too!

The World God Only Knows Chapter 7-10 : Kanon

So this chapter's girl is Kanon! The new "idol" in Japan, and former classmate of Keima. Regardless of her superstar status, she's quite crazy when it comes to not being noticed. One of those crazy, insecure, why don't you know me super stars. But when Keima finally realizes her problem and gives her support, he's able to capture the spirit. We learn of a new effect these lost spirits have on their hosts...

Skip Beat Chapter 123: The Birth of Natsu

After a spike in confidence, Kyoko becomes worried with her new part: Natsu- the mean girl with a normal life, normal family, yet mean girl personality. She beats herself up for thinking that she'll redo her evil role or Mio from her "Dark Moon" days. So, as usual, she goes to Ren for help.
What she figures out is surprising.

8,500 Views! Arigato Mina

Hey guys!! I'm happy to announce that this blog's views has reached 8,500! Thank you guys so much for all of your views. I remember when this thing just started and I had absolutely no hope for it. Seriously, my main audience was from Alaska. 2 views a day. And now I've hit 8,500. Again thank you all so much. Keep reading :) and Google +1 me !

Playing Catch Up!: Skip Beat

Fun fact for ya: the author of Skip BeatYoshiki Nakamura, doesn't even have a real reason for naming it as it is. In fact, she really just wanted to use the word "beat" in the name...I guess skip won!

Anyway, as I said before, Skip Beat is about a girl whose "evil spirits" are awakened when she learns that she was betrayed by her childhood friend/ crush/ superstar boyfriend. She then swears revenge on him, and the only way of doing that is by making it in show business. In the episode 2 we see her extreme, and I mean exxtttrreemmee, determination to get into show business. She actually flunks the audition after losing her cool during an acting test. However, she is given the chance to be a part of LME's "Love-Me Section." In episodes 3-11 we pretty much watch as she faces her demons, tries to regain the compassion and practically any loving emotion she lost, and make it in showbiz. On the way she meets Ren Tsuruga, a successful, calm, serious actor. Even though she seems to "hate" him, I see a major romance budding ;).

Actually, I quite like Kyoko. She's the most determined anime character I have EVER seen. And trust me, there are a lot out there. I also like the relationships she has with the men. Sho (the evil SOB who betrayed her) seems to bring out her worst, and Ren always seems to be there to bring her back down to earth. It's a short anime, but the manga is still on going (haven't read it in a while though O__-) so I'm assuming that the anime and manga will have different endings. Which one will be better? I'm gonna take a guess and say that it's going to be the manga...that's usually what happens.

The World God Only Knows Chapters 3-5: Mio

So WGOK is actually a pretty entertaining manga! It looks like a few chapters are dedicated to the conquest of the day, and chapters 3-5 were dedicated to Mio, the rich girl with a tough outer shell

However, her elite, snotty outside holds a deep secret that can make extracting the lost demon even more difficult.

The World God Only Knows: Chapter 1

The World God Only Know (WGOK) is about Katsuragi Keima, A.K.A  "The God of Conquests". He lives his life beating popular dating simulation games and winning the hearts of virtual girls. He's a lot like Furuya from Sankarea. Furuya is only attracted to zombie girls, as Keima is only attracted to virtual girls.

One day, after his online personality receives a message questioning his skills, he gets thrown into a contract with the devil. And if he breaks it, both he and the devil helping him, will have their head's chopped off...

Sankarea Summary

Sankarea is a fun anime. Not one where you really have to think: just watch, laugh, and enjoy. It's got the right amount of romance, comedy, and boooobies! Yes, that was immature, but what's life without a little piece of your childish reaction to natural bodily developments?

Anyway, Sankarea is about Chirio Furuya, a boy obsessed (and attracted to) zombie-girls. Chicks with a pulse and non-decaying bodies just don't do it for this guy.

One day, his cat Babu dies and he decides it'd be a good idea to resurrect him using an old manuscript he found at his uncle's place. In an attempt to keep his crazy potion making a secret, he finds an abandoned building, which also happens to be the place where Sanka Rea, the uber-rich "idol" of the girl's school, goes to blow off steam regarding her father's love of taking naked pictures of her (creepy, right?).

After the two learn of each other's secrets, Rea agrees to help Chihiro make his potion. However, once they make the correct potion (using the poisonous hydrangea flower) she drinks it in an attempted suicide.

Luckily, the potion only works for reviving things, not killing them. Even more so, when  Rea accidentally falls to her death, the potion brings her back to life.... as a zombie

As Chihiro takes Rea in, he fights with the responsibility he holds towards her slowly decaying body, and the strong physical attraction to this dream girl he never thought could exist. It's a very cute story, and Rea's background with both her father and surrogate mother brings in great drama, as well as conflict. This is definitely something I'd recommend to anyone looking for a romanic comedy and drama

Recommend an Anime!

Welcome to my anime and manga blog!

Anime has escalated from an interest to an addiction to me, but I sometimes have issues find anime taht I really want to watch. Which is exactly why I've made this Reccomend an Anime page! I'm pretty open to any types of anime (other than hentai and ecchi breaching on hentai) and I'd love to hear anyone's favorite anime so I can both watch/read it and then blog about it

So please! Help me out: Comment below and give me some new stuff :)

Koizora Review: Thoroughly Entertaining, but Not Captivating

Koizora is an anime I'm not used to. It's not just sad...it's tragic. It even goes by "Love Sky: A Sad Love Story". But what's weird about it: I've never (not once!) cried while reading this. Now, I cried reading Fruits Basket, Full Moon Sagashite, and especially Sword Art Online. WHY?? Fruits Basket

New Look

Hey guys! As you've probably noticed, I've changed the site drastically. I found the old one too drab. The new one has a bit more...flair. I hope you like it! If not, feel free to comment

To make up for this boring post, here's a picture of Ash in an apple costume running away from his snorlax:

Who remembers this episode? I believe
it was an Orange Island's episode

So it's just been confirmed, Fennekin is a fire/psychic, Froakie is a water/fighting, and Chespin is a grass/bug type. What do you guys think about that?

Pokemon: Generation 6 X and Y: Starters and Legendaries

So how many of you have heard about the new generation of Pokemon? I have to admit, I wasn't the biggest fan of generation 5 (gen 2 is still my favorite) but I'm pretty psyched for this new generation. Regardless of whatever new pokemon they add, the graphics and game play seem far more sophisticated than any other generation.

The new game is made in 3D for the nintendo 3DS. Now I still own the first DS and haven't cared for the DS lite, DS i, etc. , but for this game....there's nothing I won't do to get my hands on it. It's the thing I've always wanted since the nintendo 64 came out: a free roaming pokemon journey with great graphics and screenplay.

As for the starters:

It looks like we have Froakie, the water frog

Fennekin, the fire fox (vulpix much?)

And Chespin, the grass...ottor? Beaver maybe

I personally like Fennekin the most, but if he turns out to be another fire-fighting, then I'm gonna have to go for Froakie. To be honest, I never choose the grass starters. They have no variety in their move pools, and aren't as tough as fire/water pokemon. This is what I think (hope) will (realistically) happen with their evolutions : water/poison, fire/psychic, and grass/water. Hopefully they'll add some new type mixes into the starter evolutions.

As for the legendaries, we have two absolutely beautiful pokemon fitted for the X and Y series:

We haven't received news on the types, backgrounds, or story-lines behind these two pokemon. But I must say, they look magnificent.

So what do you guys think of Generation 6? What do you think of the new starters? What do you want their evolutions to be like? Have you decided between Yveltal or Xerneas?

I'll keep you all posted on any new announcements regarding this topic :)

Stunning Miyazaki Fan Art

So, I've had this recent intrest with anime movies. They feature far more symbolism, morals, themes, and direction than most anime series. But who could mention anime movies without mentioning Hayao Miyazaki? The director of 4 star animes (in Japan and America) like Spirited Away or Howl's Moving Castle, this man is the creme-de-la-creme of the animation arts.

While getting my usual fix of anime related web pages, I ran into an article titled "Reimagined Miyazaki Films" on buzzfeed.com. It showed the work of Jonas Akerlund and his interpretations of Miyazaki's work. Here's a sample of his beautiful work:

Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away
 two of my favorite movies
Now, unfortunately, he didn't do any Princess Mononoko interpretations, so here's one to make up for it.
