Fooly Cooly-thon: Reactions to Episode 2

Oh so now the plot thickens! ... Sort of!

On the second day here on Fooly Cooly-thon, we take a look at the second episode.

Shenanigans abound, characters revealed (not really), Medical Mechanica is given some part in this "life that is a lie".

Whatever lie it may be, I am pretty entertained. Lets get started!

Well, the second episode is here and it looks like the insanity just only gets worse and worse.

Welcome to Episode 2: Fire Starter!

Huh... I never really knew what to call him...
Is that name copyrighted yet?

Okay, I shouldn't say worse and worse because that makes it sound like a negative thing. The anime drops all sorts of elements that don't make a lick of sense when you first see them but I feel like they are doing this on purpose to build to something much larger.

Elements from the last episode that were not exactly the clear-cut definition of sane are looked at, explored more in depth and even continue and have pertinence to the this, and hopefully the next, episodes!

The thing that I hate about most any medium of art is the employment of randomness... for the sake of randomness alone. You know? When people decide that something random or insane should be put into a scene without any reason or purpose and have no further meaning than to either distract the audience or to "symbolize" something.

No. If it has no pertinence to anything, leave it out. >:(

... Though I can and will let certain things slide by. (I am looking at you Kubrick)

Take this for example. This is art (apparently).
But- the artist intended something with this
so... wait. Do I have to give it a pass
even though I hate it so much?

So the episode really tries to patch up some (emphasis on some) of the elements from the last episode that seemed to either act as either total wallflowers or just made little to no sense when they were first introduced.

Take the wallflower Medical Mechanica for example. In the first episode, we just saw that it was a huge, iron shaped building (wat) that produced medical products.

Now although as vague as that explanation sounds, it was a possibility and we accepted it as truth. Sure, it is very out of place for Naota to mention something like that in the first place but it looks like this company is a superpower, possibly one of the leading (or only) sources of industry and income for the residents of Endsville.

Plus, I think it would be pretty hard not to mention A GIANT FREAKING IRON in the middle of your home city that spouts white smoke every once in a while.

I'd hate to be driving in a city like this...

The fact that robots are popping out of his head is also somewhat explained. Haruko, dressed as her nurse persona, took an x-ray of Naota's brain (I am pretty sure that is malpractice somewhere D; ) and as it turns out, his brain is either TOTALLY gone or he has never really had one. I suspect either a portal of some sort or nanomachine in there creating all of these things from his own genetic material or emotions because they always seem to pop out of him when shit goes down with Mamimi.

Now THAT is interesting

And something a little unsettling is also discovered at the same moment. That first robot that popped out of his head was manufactured by Medical Mechanica...

We're onto you TV Boy...

This little revelation along with several others in this episode is really starting to weave this little enigma of a story that I personally really want to uncover.

With that said, however, we still are in the dark about a few other things... Like, you know, the pink-haired chick that keeps smashing everything in sight with her axe.

At this point I'll believe anything... -_-

I'm sure that with time, all will be revealed. And god I hope I am sure.

Characters are also built up more and, of course, more pieces to this abstract puzzle are revealed.
Overall, this episode was even better than the last and, at this rate, this anime might just make it really high up on my list if it keeps getting me this interested at this rate.

This sort of feels like an archeological dig on acids and shrooms. You are revealing truths and pieces behind a giant unknown mystery that doesn't make any sense in the slightest.

Ahaha, references to other canon shows are hilarious

Expect the next entry to the Fooly Cooly-thon with Episode 3 soon! (like today soon, the internet is working much better now) I will see you all then!
