Death Note: Ep. 1 Overview

Light: the sexiest asshole ever 

Jesus. From the beginning, I knew this anime was gonna be dark, but I never expected it to be this dark. It centers around a male student named Light who has straight A's, and basically thinks he's the shit. You could immediately tell that he was some sort of sadistic egotist to begin with, so putting a book such as the Death Note in his hands was just screaming for trouble.

While thinking about how horrible the people in this world were, he saw a black notebook fall to the ground through his classroom window. He then picks it up, discovering that whoevers name is written in the book will die. So, he does what every other person in this world would do. He tests it out, killing a criminal he saw on TV. After another test run, he decides that it's his job to decide who should live, and who shouldn't. We then discover the notebook belongs one of the Death Gods, Ryuk, who was simply bored, and decided to play around with humans. Because of Light's connection to this god's notebook, he and Ryuk are eternally connected. To be honest, I think they make the perfect match. I guess this anime really shows how curiousity killed the cat.
