Fooly Cooly-thon: Reactions to Episode 4

There once was a man. He had eyebrows.

The episode takes a turn for the epic in Episode 4 of FLCL! Epic revelations, epic hints, epic emotions and of course epic brow stature.

Had to run a quick errand for papa-san but I am back here and ready to post!

Let's dive on in shall we?

To put it blunty, stuff is revealed. Pretty big stuff. One of the questions I have really been asking and some of my suspicions confirmed.

If you somehow have not questioned Haruko's motives and methods up until now, this episode will finally MAKE you. Oh trust me, shit's about to go down.

This episode starts out like every other episode, you know with baseball- what?

Well the baseball itself is not as important as the things it brings to the table concerning Naota.

For one, he will simply not swing his bat.

As we all (hopefully) know by now, Naota has an older brother who traveled to the U.S. to play for the Major Leagues in baseball.

And as clearly demonstrated, he is not necessarily known for his own accomplishments.

For this, and possibly many other, reasons, we are dealing with a character with an inferiority complex and, from what I understand after watching the last few episodes, this trait is one of the main driving and deciding factors in his personality.

And with good reason. All of us had been a twelve year old pubescent pre-teen learning about the world through our experiences. Naive and practically helpless, we usually depend on others for guidance as we seek to make our own identities known and not to be played or toyed around with.

I am just throwing ideas out there xD I think I should really sit down and think about this because, yes, Naota has interested me from the beginning with his particularly unique attitude and actions and I have seen what I thought was signs of this inferiority complex (as noted with all of his actions and relationships with Haruko to Mamimi to his own father), but now this episode just took those suspicions by storm!

So with all that said... in comes Haruko's role.

Oh SNAPPLE product placement!!

I want to note that he is twelve years old, an age where right and wrong can be as easily bent, swayed and deformed as a non-bendy type straw. You know how most of us were, jealousy, resentment and other big extreme emotions because we wanted/needed things.

Anyways, emotions happen and then the crap starts to hit the fan!

AWWWWW HERE IT GOES!

Called it
I think it is clear to say that in this episode, these extreme spikes in emotions are what seem to cause all of the protrusions/things to happen.

We have seen it time and time again but, like this episode seems to be doing, it is made VERY clear that this is the way the things work.

Why you might ask? Science cannot provide an answer!

But I seem to be noticing a trend, STUFF KEEPS ON REVEALING ITSELF OVER TIME! *insert Captain Obvious and Lieutenant Duh here*

We are revealed that Naota is one of the few people that can actually open up this portal inside their heads by a... pretty shocking and confusingly conveyed scene involving mannequins. I think.

Anyways, I don't want to say much more about the episode because it gets pretty sweet around the end.

Shit.
Hm... Another theme for the coming analysis... Maturity.

Overall, great episode. The revelations are interesting and the puzzle pieces are really starting to come together and form a picture. A really strange and slightly disturbing picture at times but, nonetheless, it has something good to say.

Until soon everyone!
